Mentoring with Karyn
Always learning and failing forward
Mentoring with Karyn is a photography-heart-centered intensive.
It’s for students, young adults, small-businesses, students and even nanna’s.
It’s for anyone who wants to learn how to take better photographs and have confidence when they pick up their camera. To learn how to listen to the quiet and observe, to be a better conscious-living-heart-centered human being, so that you can connect with your subjects, your clients and your landscape.
You are here because you so desperately want to know more, you crave information, knowledge, education.
You might look at a photograph and ask how did they do that?
How did they get those people to laugh, or pose, or do that thing?
How can I do that in my own photos?
The focus of these sessions is on the practicalities of what it means to be a photographer, what that looks like, feels like, smells like. We will explore the truth of what it means to be responsible for taking someone’s photograph.
How to be subtle in your direction and not-so subtle when it is needed.
We encourage a safe space for you to stretch, learn, grow and fail forward.
We will cover the topics that we think are most important.
Such as working with light, human-beings, ambience, and how to continuously learn, learn, learn.
Wherever you are on your journey, all skills are welcome.
with Karyn Clements
I never studied photography, instead I studied films.
I never studied business, and yet I run one.
What does that mean?
It is my belief that you can teach yourself anything you set your mind to and yet I would never be where I am today without the many, many mentors who have guided me along the way. Professional and personal development has been one of the best investments I have ever made and I am very lucky that I had older and wiser people, literally get me in front of coaches and mentors to see me grow and sort my life out. It has always been important to me to continue to learn, grow and develop not only as a photographer, but as a human being.
And I am still always learning.
It is my desire to give back to those who are willing to put in the hard work. One session with me, won't replace the ten thousand hours it takes to become learned and skilled in a trade, but it will get you in the direction you want to go.
